Would You Like to Work From Home?

Lots of people think that working from home would be ideal, even if they could just a part time business to supplement other family income. But most of those people never get started. Why? From talking to some of them, and my own experience, I think the thought is just to daunting. People believe that they need some high tech skill or expensive equipment to get started.

Being self employed myself, at this point in my life, I am always interested to see other people’s good home business ideas. This article on Simple Home Business Ideas was refreshing because it pointed out some ways to work at home that people just have not thought of. Since we self employed people tend to get our own brains sparked from other people’s ideas, I thought I would add to the list with five more ideas!

Garage Sale Arbitrage – Arbitrage is the simple act of buying low and selling high. I have known more than one person who would seek out local garage sales, estate sales, etc. for items that were underpriced and could be sold at a profit. Sometimes they would store theese goodies up in their own garage and hold their own huge and well publicized garage sale. They would take some particularly good items and market them individually on EBay, Craigslist, or in the paper. You may think it is impossible to profit like this, but I have seen many people do this for years.

Neighborhood Flyers – All you need is a pc and and a compy machine. You can find lots of local business people, like insurance agents, cleaners, and dentists, who find that simple flyers are an effective way to promote their services. Approach them with an offer to distribute a specific amount of flyers with their advertisement. They may want to add a coupon or special offer. You can even add multiple business listings to one flyer to make it more profitable for you. Does this work? You bet it does! You can distribute the flyers door to door, put them in mail boxes, or on parked car in a local shopping center.

Tutors – School seems to be getting more competitive at a younger age. Many working parents would appreciate somebody who can help kids with homework, enforce specific skills, or teach new ones. If you were good at math, know how to play an instrument, or just like kids, you can offer your services. In addition, home schooling has become more popular today. There is a demand for group excercise or music classes during the day time to meet those needs for kids who learn at home.

House Cleaning – It may not sound glamourous, but if you can charge $100 for a few hours of your time to tidy up somebody else’s home, why not do it? You can find lots of families where both parents work, and who would be happy to hire somebody they could trust to slip in and make everything nice when they get home.

Ride Service – Great grandma may need to see the doctor, or a child may need to be transported to music lessons when the family drivers are at work. You may need to make sure your personal auto isurance covers this work before you start doing it though. But otherwise it is a simple task that you can get paid for, and you will really be helping out another family by doing it.

After reading this article, and the home worker forum, you should be able to come up with even more ideas. Perhaps there is even a market for people who think of home business ideas!

Are There Real Work At Home Jobs?

If you are like a lot of people, you would love to work from home. Maybe you want to tend kids, have a disabled parent, or have mobility issues yourself. The problem is, when you search for home based jobs, you tend to find a lot of business opportunities which is not what you really want at all.

We want to help you find real home based jobs with salaries.

Don’t get me wrong, I run a home based business, and I love it! But I also spent years developing the skills I needed, and I spent years building it up until it could really make an income. Many people do not want to be self employed, but just want a job they can do from home!

So are there any real home based jobs that pay by the hour or even have a salary and benefits? Well, there actually are. They are just not usually returned at the top of the search results unless you become good at looking for them.

Customer Service – Both large companies, and outsourcing companies, are hiring home based CSR (customer service reps). And yes, you can find them in the US! A home based customer service rep may be trained to answer service quesions, collect bills, or take orders. I saw that FTD, the big flower delivery company, hires home based customer service reps. I know that my cable company also does, because I have gotten her calls. You try to search for home based customer service jobs, or look for an outsourcing company that matches workers with companies.

Virtual Assistant – I have seen these opportunities for everything from simple data entry to complex legal forms and medical coding. Some companies will train, but some expect the home based employees to have skills when they start. Either way, legitimate jobs are out there.

How to Find Real Work At Home Jobs with Hourly Pay or Salaries

You can try searching on the internet, but beware of any services that simply sell a list of companies that may have home office jobs. Some of these may be ok, but many are not that great. You really shouldn’t have to pay to apply for a job either. Be sure and do some careful research before you spend your money. After all, you are looking for a job, right?

Check the big job boards too. Sometimes Monster will list them. But again, many are business opportunities, and not really jobs.

Visit us to stay connected. We run the Home Worker Forum where home workers find jobs, opportunities, and a community!

In Jim Edwards and David Garfinkel’s tutorial “eBook Secrets Exposed”, they take you through the process of writing and marketing an eBook, so you can make money on the internet. Instead of broad generalities on writing about a particular subject, the eBook shows you the five most important steps in finding a topic for your eBook that will be targeted to a specific market. As they point out, you must identify your target audience, making sure there a lots of sites already selling to them because then you know people are willing to pay for the information.

Together they talk about how and find to identify Niche markets along with the top ten reasons or motivations for people to buy anything. There is lots of information on how to take topics and frame them into an eBook concept. Jim and David point out that your eBook will be purchased to solve your prospects painful problem or be a way to obtain a desirable solution. You must know exactly who will buy your book before you write it. They clearly take you through that process step-by-step.

Of course the main problem is always how to find the “Niche Market” that everyone always talks about. Although Jim and David do give you ideas on how to search for one, it is still a hazy realm within the internet. I would love for some internet guru to just list the markets that should be examined for creating eBooks.

With that one flaw noted, Mr. Edwards and Mr. Garfinkel do take you step-by-step through the process of writing an eBook that can be profitable, if you follow the steps they lay out for you in this eBook. So why would you take their advice? Jim Edwards has sold thousands of his eBooks online. Aside from writing eBooks, he has several CD-Rom products, videos, numerous audio tapes, software packages and a newsletter with thousands of subscribers. David Garfinkel is a copywriter and an award winning business journalist. He was the San Francisco Bureau chief for McGraw-Hill World News. More recently, he was the Editor in chief for “What’s Online” a privately circulated Internet marketing newsletter where subscribers paid $497.00 a year.

Yanik Silver said: “Jim and David have really broken the code on what it takes to make big money with almost any eBook on the Web. If that’s what you want to do I (Yanik) can only give you one piece of advice—get this resource now!”

One of the most valuable points of “eBook Secrets Exposed” is that they try to teach you how to find a hot market for your eBook and to find Joint Venture Partners that will sell your product. This is especially important if you don’t have an internet subscriber list of your own. They have even included email wording suggestions to send to potential JV partners. They further explain resale rights and how to build your own list.

“eBook Secrets Exposed” stresses how important it is to choose a topic that already has a market and has other people selling to that market. This gives you two vital opportunities: 1) the Market is established and 2) you have the potential for multiple joint venture partners. And why would you need joint venture partners? Because they already have lists of people who bought their products and they just may be interested in yours. The way to do this is mapped out in the eBook.

You will probably have to read the eBook through a few times to “get” all the points that are included, but after the second or third time you’ll have a great grasp on how to write an eBook.

There is a section in the book that goes over using pay per click advertising to get conversion numbers (number of visitors to your website that purchased your eBook). Conversion numbers are used to entice Joint Venture Partners. Although this is an option, the down side is the days of the inexpensive pay per click are over, so this could cost you some money.

This eBook is very well written and packed full of information. The only other question I would have or improvement I would like to see is how to get joint venture partners in different ways when you are just starting out. This is always a murky area.

Other than my comments on Niche Markets and finding JV Partners when you’re new, “eBook Secrets Exposed” is a very concise tutorial on how to write an eBook and market it to a targeted audience. If you want to learn quickly on how to write an eBook and you want serious information on marketing, I would give this book an 8 out of a possible 10.
