More Resume stuff: FEATURING Power Words

This is a great thing to do.  Add power words, especially power VERBS or actions to your resume.  If you are like me, you end up using the same words over and over and then your resume starts to look boring and redundant.  To help avoid a pass over when you have submitted your resume to a potential hiring company, you definitely want to have words that stick out.  Now, make sure to stay away from being overly verbose and using words that not everyone may easily understand.  You don’t know who is going to be reviewing your resume, so you want it applicable to all parties.

Now, there is this fabulous site, that was a quick and easy way to at least refine your resume as well as providing some kick butt power words.  I thought I’d have an Editor reviewing my resume by now, but I see I can do more before it heads out so I don’t get a further ego crush.

I’m going to grab power words that I know fit me and my actions and make a list and then salt and pepper them into my resume, replacing redundant and boring words.

Look, I think a resume needs updating regardless of your work status.  I honestly think it’s good to keep your brain sharp on how to promote yourself.  We are all our own sales people.  People work so hard on their social networks and promotions and spend time on useless stuff.  Your resume will always be a useable thing, regardless of whether you are self employed or not!
