Auto Insurance, Who do You Trust? Who Can You Trust?
It’s a hard pill to swallow when you hear corporate giants getting a bailout from the financial crisis handing out Millions of dollars in bonuses to “key employees” when there are so many people suffering from our economic times!
I believe I’m with the majority on that end, when I say I’d like to pull any funds from a company not reinvesting financial relief in the United States and put it where I feel like I know this company is more interested in our countries’ financial health than paying individuals with large sums of money. Not that I don’t wish people financial health and that some people do deserve a bonus, but this is NOT the time or the way to distribute bonuses! I am sure many people are withdrawing from their current auto insurance and finding a place that feels much more safe. That’s also a good question to ask agents, if you are searching for auto insurance: how financially stable is your company? What has it done to protect both the investors, investments and consumer for the future?
Ok, so what to do? I know my significant other was moved to a different insurance agency from AIG, and it was a seamless transaction, but it’s worrisome when your policy is transferred without you even knowing! My car insurance company closed without my knowledge and received one letter saying I needed to find another carrier. This was a broker, so I thought they would try to find replacement coverage, but poof! Everyone was gone. Not even long enough to do anything about their phone number or anything!
Regardless, it’s really hard to stomach the indigestion that occurs when you see such things happen when you are struggling to make ends meet.
Let me know what you’ve been finding out as well…
