Fun Frugal Dating!

In these trying times of little opulence it’s time to get creative!  Who says you have to spend 50 bucks on dinner and another 20 on a movie to have a good time with a date?  The following is a small list of great dates to try, some are more suited for first dates and others are more suited for later dates- but don’t stop here use your imagination!

1. Think young!  Remember the things you did when you were a kid to stretch out your allowance.  With that being said, ask your date what they really liked doing as a kid- for me it was climbing trees, so climb a tree!  You will be amazed at how great it feels to be a kid again!

2.  Be a tourist in your own town.  For example, if you haven’t ever visited the local history museum, or brewery, or taken the trolley tour or town walking tour, Do It!

3.  A Scavenger Hunt, give your date a list of things they need to gather around town- works great in a more populated area- and time them, then reverse the roles- they make up a list of items you have to scavenge for-and they time you- winner buys the ice-cream!

4.  Teach each other how to do something the other doesn’t know much about,  for example he plays 2 man basket ball and you take dance classes, or he fishes and you are into photography-teach each other about your passions!

5.  Make it a competition!  Who can get the best meal from the grocery store for the least amount of cost and then who’s tastes the best after its prepared?

6.  Get disposable camera’s (cheap ones) or use your own digitals and go on a weird safari— take pictures of strange things/scenes/people/colors/shadows, download later and compare weirdness’s.

7. Go to  local park with anything you can think of that might be good for an obstacle course- create your obstacle course together and then time each other, change it up- maybe one time you have to run, one time you have to skip or go backwards- the loser has to make dinner!

 8.  Check out the local ethnic food places around your town, ask people where the cheapest place in town is to eat- see where they tell you and be adventurous- try something new- even if it might have been slimy and swimming at some point in its life!

9.  Take a long walk- but make it interesting, make part of the walk blind folded.  You each have to take a turn-this is a great exercise in learning how to listen and how to trust each other!

10.  Hop on the bus and start talking to people, ask them where they think the most romantic place in your city is and then go visit those areas (just use your common sense-don’t be unsafe).
