Movie Review: WATCHMEN

Rating: Good: B+.. Follows the undertones of our countries’ cry for a hero.

Very graphic, strong violence

Nudity neither good nor bad but somewhat distracting:  although it was a blue man, they definitely showed off his junk and made sure he was well endowed.

Not too much love

Graphics and special effects were fabulous.  Made cartoon into real life.  Fantasy like but in a real life looking  setting. Very reminiscent of the days and times going on right then, did a good job of depicting the times.  And a good job of adding in the fantasy without removing the “old fashionedness” of it.

Demographics:  Adults who love anime, violence, and don’t want to be challenged with any heavies.  No CHILDREN, teens would like it, those who like fantasy gaming.

This movie is too long, unfortunately, that’s the biggest downfall.  Not that my butt hurt from sitting so long, but there were a few points throughout the movie where it could have been cut and nobody would have missed those 15 minutes.  I personally think they could have cut the movie in half and had the same effect.

Basically, it depicts the vulnerable humanness of these so called heros who happened to have once watched over “humanity?” or just Americans..never really knew.  Although they are “human” they certainly can fight like and receive blows like they were gifted with more than just the desire to “do good”.  It is set in 1985, and did a great job of fitting into the time frames they showed.  Human genocide is impending through nuclear power from the Russians. Only John (the naked blue man who received godlike gifts during an electric/radiation treatment at his lab) had superhero qualities, but he wasn’t a super hero.  He ended up being a deity, but not without some human love and flaws.

Nobody really is the star in this story, each character getting their own attention.  Especially John’s unit.

A nice tidy, fairly happy ending.
