Making Travel easier for yourself: Reward accounts
There are many people who end up traveling a lot for their job. If you happen to be one of those people, or plan to move into a position where you are traveling a lot on business, then there are some great tips that you should immediately start to do to avoid some of the fiascos that can happen with travel.
First and foremost: get a frequent flier mileage account with at least ONE major airline. United is probably the best and easiest to deal with. That way you can log into one place, and see all your itineraries, choose your seats, get reminders for flights both mobile and email. You can check in 24 hours prior to flight and even check your bags. They have made it very convenient and easy to fly! Plus, you know your login/password, you have all your information stored in one area. This can avoid so much confusion.
When you want to do price comparison, you can go to Kayak (weird name but great site) which does comparison across the board except for Frontier and Southwest. What I found is United actually is just as good as most other flight prices!
Another great idea is to get set up with a priority account through a car rental place (find a rental office that actually is in your area of travel if you go one place consistently). As well, get set up with a rewards account through a hotel. I happened to use Holiday Inn because of the hotel being in my area of travel.
The rewards accounts are good for you for the freebies, but better, you have a profile with the company you are doing business with and they can pull up your account easy, you get better treatment and believe me it has made my life so much easier!
