Combat the Economy by Holding a swap after you clean out your closet:
With the economic downturn, people are buying less, keeping things longer, and doing less.
So, what can one do to creatively make use of what they currently have?
If you are a woman with lots of clothes, or who is a fashionista, with a large wardrobe, then read the article on cleaning out your closet, and THEN?
Hold a clothing swap. Include shoes and accessories (this is especially good for the people who may be in a size where there aren’t many options).
Easiest way to do this is to invite your girlfriends. Have it at your place. Make it a two hour process, so you have enough time. If you want it to be real cheap, provide a few beverages and a treat and have everyone or a few people bring appetizers.
Create an invitation telling the place (evite does a great job), time, what to bring (gently or unused/unwanted/clothes, shoes or accessories that don’t fit). Make it fun! This is where you are bringing creativity, recycling and the economy’s losses to a win-win situation!
Create space in your place for the clothing, keeping food and beverages in a separate room.
Separate out clothes by type: shirts, sweaters, blazers, jeans, pants, workout, etc. Have a separate space for accessories and shoes.
For the swap, you can either count how many items a person brings and they can leave with that many, but the easy way to do it is just let everyone bring what they can and take what they want.
Good times to have them are seasonal change times.
