It seems to hit a lot of us at certain times of the day, and it seems to hit us even if we are not really hungry! We just get a craving for a certain food which could be ice cream, a candy bar, or even bread. A lot of the tme carbohydrate food cravings are actually caused by a lack of protein. I know this does not sound intuitive, but I know that a high protein food supplement takes the edge off my urge to eat something sweet in moments.

Starchy and sweet food tend to get our body to produce more insulin, and sometimes overproduce insulin. Too much energy is stored in our fat cells, and not enough is left in our blood stream, and so our bodies keep screaming at us to eat more of the stuff that is causing the problem in the first place!

A high protein meal tends to make us feel satisfied, and it keeps us from feeling hungry. Of course, it gets tough to sit down to a meal of steak or bacon of eggs every time we feel the urge to raid the company snack machine. However, a high protein supplement to curb food cravings can be a convenient, healthy substitute for meals or snacks.

If you are trying to lose weight, making sure that you also eat enough protein will also be a good way to help your body keep muscle while losing fat.
