Antiaging – Resveratrol or Calorie Restriction Diets for Long Life
Calorie Restriction Diets
These are very low calorie and very strict eating plans that are about thirty percent lower than what the average American eats. Proponents of calorie restriction claim that these diets will help prolong lives by staving off some of the common ills of old age. These ills include diabetes, heart disease, strokes, immune disease, and even cancer.
They believe these diets work because they force the body to go into a semi-starvation mode which supports tissue function above all else. And of course, the lower weight of active followers probably helps prevent some illness too.
The problem with calorie restrictions are that they haven’t been demonstrated to be the right solution for everybody. First, most of us do not want, or simply cannot, stick to such a limited daily diet! Secondly, some studies suggest that people who weigh more are better able to survive some diseases. It will be great to avoid diabetes, but not if one succumbs to pnemonia.
Resveratrol for Longevity
One article, calorie restriction vs resveratrol for anti-aging, suggests that a person can realize many of the benefits of calorie restriction with clinical amounts of a natural supplement. This supplement, resveratrol, is found naturally in red wine and grapes, but it is not found in signifigant amounts in nature.
Which is the right anti-aging answer for you?
You may want to look into calorie restriction, but I sure don’t. Or you can learn more about the natural supplement here: What is Resveratrol?
