Do You Crave Starch and Sugar?

It seems to hit a lot of us at certain times of the day, and it seems to hit us even if we are not really hungry! We just get a craving for a certain food which could be ice cream, a candy bar, or even bread. Why do we crave high energy sources at certain times, and what can we do to contain those cravings so they do not make us gain weight!

A lot of the tme carbohydrate food cravings are actually caused by a lack of protein. I know this does not sound intuitive, but I know that a high protein food supplement takes the edge off my urge to eat something sweet in moments.

Starchy and sweet food tend to get our body to produce more insulin, and sometimes overproduce insulin. Too much energy is stored in our fat cells, and not enough is left in our blood stream, and so our bodies keep screaming at us to eat more of the stuff that is causing the problem in the first place!

Protein Can Curb Food Cravings

A high protein meal tends to make us feel satisfied, and it keeps us from feeling hungry. Of course, it gets tough to sit down to a meal of steak or bacon of eggs every time we feel the urge to raid the company snack machine. However, a high protein supplement to curb food cravings can be a convenient, healthy substitute for meals or snacks.

If you are trying to lose weight, making sure that you also eat enough protein will also be a good way to help your body keep muscle while losing fat.

Can You Find Affordable Auto Insurance For Student Drivers?

Egad! My oldest son is taking driver’s education now. We put it off for awhile, and by his age, I had already had a license. But state regulations have gotten tougher, which is probably for the best. And because of that, and other factors, we have put off his entry into the world of young male drivers!

I have done some calling around to find out how to find affordable car insurance for my teenage son. Of course, I did suffer sticker shock – his entry onto my policy could double or triple some rates. Teens and young adults are one of the riskiest groups of people for insurers, and if your young driver is a boy, that risk increases.

But I also got some good ideas to find under age 25 car insurance at the lowest possible price.

Driver’s Education Classes – Not only are these approved classes well tested to make your child a safer driver, they can also earn a substantial discount on rates. My son’s class will shave off 15% with most major insurers.

Good Students – Students with a B average, or better, should also get an additional discount. Since insurers do not have the individual’s driving history to rate them on, they look for other indications or responsibility.

Multiple Policies - Many insurers will relax their rates if you give them more of your whole family’s business. So combine coverage for multiple drivers, and also a home policy, and see if that helps. You can run car and home car insurance quotes here!

Compare Car Insurance quotes! Always shop around because different insurers use different rate charts! We think that online quote forms make that job easier. Visit here to compare internet auto insurance.

I cannot guarantee you cheap premiums for a young driver, but with a little effort, you should be able to save money!

Why Would You Generate Your Own Solar Energy?

I think a better question would be, why wouldn’t anybody want to generate their own solar energey if they could? Here are some of the main advantages to using solar energy.

Use clean and renewable solar energy that will not use up scarce resources of pollute.

Reduce home and business fuel costs because payments to the power company will be reduced or eliminated.

Have a source of power when the electric company’s power supply is down during a blackout or storm.

Make excess electricity that you can sell back to the grid to make money by supplying your neighbors with power.

Become an expert on Do It Yourself (DIY) solar energy, and you can make money by installing systems in your neighbor’s homes or businesses.

Find tax credits for going green!

Indeed, you can find many positive reasons to go green, but people still hesitate because of the expense of commercial solar power systems, or because they thing a project will be do difficult. However, you can find many resources to help an average person (not an engineer) start with their own personal solar power systems. You can start by replacing some power, like the water heater or pool heater, and then work your way up until you generate enough energy to store, or even sell!

Get Started With Your Own Solar Energy Project Right Away

Learn more about affordable home solar energy projects.

Or go right here to find a $200 Solar Energy Project to get you started!

Are You a Candidate For Irritable Bowel Syndrome?

Are you a candidate for irritable bowel syndrome? Do you have abdominal pain or cramping? Do you have constipation? Diarrhea? How about vomiting, or fever or headache? How about bloating and water retention? Irritable bowel syndrome is not pleasant for anyone who has it, and many many Americans do suffer from it, in fact more every year. Many of these turn to Bowtrol Colon Cleanser for relief.

Natural Relief for IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

Why do they turn to Bowtrol Colon Cleanser? The answer to that is easy. Bowtrol Colon Cleanser is all natural and has many successful users. Their track record is outstanding. Bowtrol Colon Cleanser in league with a healthy lifestyle that should include moderate exercise and sensible eating habits can help keep the colon cleansed. Two to three good, regular and healthy bowel movements a day are essential to good colon health. Bowtrol Colon Cleanser helps with this. So does good eating. Most Americans eat way too much fast food. Too much sugar, too much fat. Not enough vegetables and fruit. Not enough healthy grains or legumes. Legumes are beans of all types – green beans, black beans, lima beans, butter beans, brown beans, navy beans, pinto beans, and on and on. Also peanuts are legumes. These are great sources of fiber for better colon cleanliness and better colon health. A one-two punch of better eating habits and Bowtrol Colon Cleanser can make a world of difference in most people. Good colon health and cleanliness can be the difference between a pain free day and a day full of abdominal cramping. It can also be the difference between feeling good and feeling constipated, or bloated or headachy. And remember that good colon health means no diarrhea, an experience few people enjoy.

The reason for good colon health and cleanliness leading to health elsewhere in the body is simple really. The colon is a very large and very complex organ. It contains more nerves than any other organ, except of course for the brain and the spinal column, known as the central nervous system. All other organs in the body are connected to the colon, and all organs in the body work together. If the colon has problems, these problems spread to other organs and you will feel symptoms of spastic colon, irritable bowel syndrome or another ailment. It only makes good health sense to do what you can to keep your colon cleansed and healthy to keep the rest of your body functioning properly. Bowtrol Colon Cleanser is a great place to start.

Can You Unclog A Toilet?

Face it. Some toilets just seem more prone to clogging than others. I have one of each kind in my house. I have a well behaved “john” that just flushes and flushes. And then I have the other kind, which is the one that seems to be clogged up every other day. A friend suggested I replace it with one of those 16 ping pong ball models from the home improvement store. And that may be on the agenda, but right now I’m determined to keep wrestling with this nasty problem.

Try A Simple, Household Product To Unclog Your Toilet

Do you have any dishwasher soap? Well, it has been designed to break up grease and organic solids. That same product can help break up organic waste too, and a few squirts can really help you get your toilet flowing again!

The Trusty Plunger

You need to make a suction over the top of the hole in the bottom of the toilet bowl. I guess just about any sort of plunger works, though I like the larger, modern ones. About 10 – 20 solid plunges should do the trick.

If the water is going dow when you plunge, but you are not convinced the blockage is gone, make sure you take off the top of the tank. Then try flushing. If the water rises too fast, and you are concerned the toilet will overflow, you should be able to reach into the tank and close the stopper to stop filling your toilet.

Commercial Toilet Products

Be careful here, because most commercial products for unclogging drains are not for use in toilets. Make sure you read the warnings on the container. But you can find products that are made for septic systems and toilets. In general, these work by adding them before bed time when the toilet will not be used again. So you have to wait until morning to see any results.

What If Products and Plunging Do Not Break Up The Clog?

Now, you need to entertain the possibility that your problem is not just normal organic waste.

You could have roots growing into your pipes, especially after a rainy period. You can find commercial products that are designed to kill those roots.

You could have another type of obstruction that will take a snake to remove. I can find inexpensive and disposable plastic snakes at my local discount store.

When To Call A Plumber?

If you just cannot get your toilet flowing again, it may be time to call in a professional plumber or handy man.

You can learn how to unclog a toilet, and a lot more handy tips at the Frugal Living Website.

Did You Get Some Unwanted Gift Cards?

It happens to all of us. The minute we go on a diet, somebody decides to give us a gift card for fancy chocolates. Give up caffeine, and you know a Starbucks gift card will be on the way! In fact, Americans waste millions of dollars every year because we do not use gift cards. I am sure that stores count on this, and that is why gift card giving is promoted so much. So how can we make frugal use of unwanted gift cards?
Re-Gift Gift Cards

If you have a drawer full of unwanted gift cards, consider passing them along. I have lots of friends who would really appreciate a trip to the mall, while I never tend to make it there.

I do not see why passing along an unwanted gift card, unless it is totally inappropriate, woud be any different than buying a new gift card. You may not want to pass along a fancy undies gift card to your 300 pound neighbor, but you can certainly re-gift with the same consideration you would apply to buying a new present!

If you just cannot stand the though of passing along a gift like that, then buy something for the person with the gift card, and then give that item along in good conscience.

Donate Your Gift Card

If you do not like the re-gifting option, why not donate it to charity. If the charity cannot use the actual items that they could buy with the gift card, they may be able to use it for a fundraiser. Charities are always throwing silent auctions, or similar events, to raise money. A gift card is a perfect item! Your place or worship or a local charity would be a good place to start.

Sell Your Gift Card

You can find hundreds of online auctions or classifieds sites with gift card offers. You have to decide if the amount of the card is worth the time, listing fee (if any), and trouble because you will not get 100% of the value of your card online. But if your card has a substantial value, you can get some cash for something you really do want!

Everybody loves frozen sweet treats, but many of them are loaded with calories. We have some ideas for sweet frozen treats that are simple enough for kids to make, and also will help your kids contribute to a healthy diet.

Make Your Own Frozen Yogurt Pops!

Simple buy your favorite flavor of regular yogurt, some small paper cups, and some popsicle sticks. Spoon the yogurt into the paper cup, and then cover the cup with pastic wrap. Insert a stick into each cup. You will need to break a small hole in the plastic wrap. Stick these treats in your freezer, wait a couple of hours, and then enjoy them when you need some frozen yummies!

Frozen Bananas

Frozen bananas are great. There is some sort of synergy here between the banana and the freezing that makes it almost taste like banana ice cream. Peel a couple of bananas, put them on a plate, and freeze them over night. Enjoy! If you do not think you will eat them right away, you may want to stick the bananas in a freezer bag or cover them with plastic wrap. After the bananas are frozen, you can also dip them in yogurt or syrup. We like to take a little chocoate syrup, mix it with chopped nuts, and use that as a dip!

Freeze Pops

Just about any drink can make a popsicle. Of course, you can buy them already made, but kids seem to enjoy the satisfaction of making them at home. You can also buy a plastic mold for them, but small paper cups and popsicle sticks work well too. Try sugar free drink mix, sodas, or anything you think of.

Why Bother To Make Healthy Treats

We find that kids are more likely to enjoy health food that they had a hand in preparing. Besides, it is probably more economical to prepare you own treats than it is to buy them. You will also help your kids learn their way around the kitchen by starting with some simple foods that they enjoy.
